SARAH’S House

In a perfect world, children live in safe, fun, loving environments. However, the sad reality is that children are abused every day all around us. Prior to child advocacy centers, children were interviewed multiple times by various investigating professionals.

SARAH’S House (Sexual Abuse Response And Help) is a child advocacy center that provides a different way to investigate, prosecute and treat child abuse. It is both child focused and child friendly. We work together to reduce trauma that the victims experience and enhance the ability to respond to child maltreatment.

A Multi-Disciplinary Investigative Team (MDIT) that responds to child abuse allegations meets monthly for case review. Members of this MDIT include: The Mineral County Prosecuting Attorney, Law-enforcement – (state, county and local levels), Representatives from Child Protective Services, Mental Health Providers, Medical Providers, and SARAH’S House CAC. The teams coordinate efforts in ongoing criminal investigations involving child sexual assault, child sexual abuse, child abuse and neglect. SARAH’S House works to provide networking opportunities, communication, training, and technical assistance to community and civic organizations throughout Mineral County.

SARAH’S House is a nationally accredited center with the National Children’s Alliance and an active member of the West Virginia Child Advocacy Network.

When working together we can create safer environments and provide hope for our children and their families! Our Organization depends on tax deductible monetary donations to help ensure that the children’s needs are being met to the best of our ability.

Therapeutic Services
SARAH’S House offers free mental health services through a licensed therapist trained in Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

We believe that without effective intervention, many traumatized children will suffer on-going or long term adverse social, emotional and developmental outcomes that may impact them throughout their lifetimes.

Medical Examination
All children receiving services at SARAH’S House are assessed to determine the need for a medical examination. Examinations are done at no cost to the child or family. It is not required to have your child participate in a medical examination, however it is strongly encouraged when deemed necessary.

Locations
SARAH’S House is located in Keyser, WV.
