Community Based Therapy at Burlington United Methodist Family Services provides therapeutic services to children and adults both within our programs and throughout the local community.

Services are designed to support individuals who have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect, and to help families build healthy coping skills, emotional regulation, and stability in everyday life.

Therapy & Support Services

Our therapists provide a wide range of services, including:

  • Trauma assessment and treatment
  • Child development and behavior management
  • Parent psychoeducation and discipline strategies
  • Crisis support and substance abuse services
  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Referrals to additional community resources as needed

Services are delivered in a supportive, trauma-informed manner focused on healing and long-term well-being.

Program Details

Who We Serve

Community Based Therapy typically serves:

  • Children ages 3 and up
  • Adolescents and adults
  • Individuals who have experienced abuse, neglect, or trauma

Each client receives care tailored to their unique needs and circumstances.

Treatment Approaches

Treatment modalities may include:

  • Play Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Therapists select approaches based on clinical need, age, and treatment goals.

Payment & Referrals

Community Based Therapy services accept:

  • Medicaid
  • Private Pay

Referrals may come from families, agencies, schools, or other community partners.
