Jackie’s Story

My name is Jackie Cullers, and I’m a single mom of nine children. Becoming a foster parent had been on my heart for years because of my love for kids and desire to help. After a long period of thought, I completed the paperwork and was approved in October 2006.

The very next day I received a call about three children who needed a home. Though I had initially asked for one placement, I said, “I’ll give it a try.” It was hard work, but by grace and faithfulness, those children brought so much blessing to our family. I adopted all three in 2006.

Over the years, we welcomed more children — one being a sibling of those I had already adopted and later two teenage girls who were initially expected to stay only briefly. Today, our home is filled with love, laughter, and even required a 12-passenger van to get everyone around!

Being a foster parent isn’t easy — it takes love, patience, and dedication — but seeing a child smile for the first time makes it all worthwhile. Becoming a foster parent doesn’t cost anything but your time. Don’t hesitate — you can be someone’s hero.
