Erika was referred to the Safe At Home (SAH) Program in July 2017 after spending over a year in placement. Facing challenges such as truancy, academic struggles, substance abuse, and conflict with authority, she needed support as she transitioned back home.
Through therapy, community resources, tutoring, and mentoring, Erika began growing in confidence and skills. She participated in social outings, worked on appropriate peer interactions, and took ACT prep classes — all while building stability and purpose.
After a year of support from the SAH team, Erika:
- Became class president
- Was passing all her classes
- Maintained sobriety for over a year
- Graduated on time
- Applied to colleges for the fall 2019 semester
- Successfully completed her probation and exited the court system
Erika credits her growth and success to the consistent support she received from the Burlington team — and she continues to thrive today with the pride of her family behind her.
