Residential Support for Women in Recovery

The Staggers Recovery House, a program of Burlington United Methodist Family Services, is a 12–18 month residential living program designed to support women as they work toward long-term recovery and stability.

The program provides a safe, sober, and supportive environment where residents focus on personal growth, accountability, and connection to community resources. Each participant works individually on long-term goals while receiving guidance, structure, and access to services that support sustained recovery.

Program Overview

Residents at Staggers Recovery House participate in a structured program that emphasizes responsibility, personal development, and community engagement.

The program includes:

  • A structured daily schedule
  • Participation in self-help meetings
  • Community service
  • Goal-setting related to education, training, and employment
  • Linkages to outside treatment and recovery resources

Through a progressive level system, residents build independence while remaining supported and accountable. Honesty, integrity, and personal responsibility are core expectations of the program.

Residents are expected to be active participants in their own recovery and engaged members of the surrounding community.

Program Details

Admissions Criteria

To be eligible for admission to the Staggers Recovery House, individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • Referrals must be completed by a local Day Report Center
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Clients may be pregnant
  • Have a substance abuse history with a primary diagnosis of substance abuse
  • Be currently enrolled in or have completed an educational program and be working or pursuing employment or continued education
  • Be able to pass a drug screening upon admission
  • Any medical or psychiatric conditions must be stabilized prior to entry
